This year, the StreamYard team released 50+ new features and improvements. 🚀🦆

From big updates to small tweaks, in 2025 we focused on streamers’ needs and workflows to provide the tools to produce your shows and grow your audience. Here's a breakdown of the main changes:

🤖 Rethinking short-form content with AI Clips

Earlier in December, we released a major update to AI Clips, our AI-powered reels generator that turns long-form content into scroll-stopping reels in just a few clicks.

Explore the new customization controls by adding your logo, customizing caption styling with colors and fonts, and adjusting the duration of your clip. Use your voice to guide the AI in selecting the best moments for your reels, or prompt it with detailed text descriptions.

🪐Multi-aspect ratio streaming (MARS)

In November, we introduced MARS (multi-aspect ratio streaming), StreamYard’s innovative tool to deliver content automatically optimized for both desktop and mobile.

With MARS, you can stream vertically and horizontally at the same time, from the same studio. Upload custom assets for each orientation, and let StreamYard handle the conversion between the two formats: your layouts are automatically adapted to the portrait aspect. And only for YouTube, try to go live with both formats to the same account!

🎑 Scenes

At the beginning of 2025, Scenes became available to everyone at StreamYard: now irreplaceable for our power users, Scenes is a feature that lets you plan how the elements of your show will appear in advance, and pre-save different configurations that you can then select while live with just one click.

📹 Enhanced video quality

After months of under-the-hood engineering efforts, in November we optimized our recording pipeline to improve the quality of your stream: expect crisper text, smoother motion and better color accuracy. If you’re curious just how we achieved that, we documented the effort with an in-depth technical article that you can find here.

📝 Notes and Teleprompter

Never miss a beat while managing your show: in August, we added a new tab to your studio where you can jot down and save notes. And to make the most out of it, we coupled it with an on-screen teleprompter, that displays your notes scrolling through them smoothly; only visible to you, the teleprompter helps you to minimize distractions while offering support for more structured productions, all without leaving StreamYard.

💬 Chat Overlay

Back in May, we introduced Chat Overlay to gather and showcase all your audience’s comments on your screen. We also recently released a v2.0 to incorporate the feedback we received from you and make it an even more powerful tool for engaging with your audiences. Now you can choose between different dimensions and font sizes to match your preference and improved visibility.

These are just a few of our favorite new features, but the team has been hard at work all year long. Here’s some further selected highlights:

Image sharing. Share image files directly on stage without converting to other formats. [released in March]

New destinations. Amplify your audience by streaming to two new platforms: Kick and Brightcove. [released in June-July]

A new People tab. Easily manage all your guests from a unified view with the new People tab. [released in July]

Sound effects. Play back engaging sound effects while live with our new built-in library, or upload your own sounds. [released in August]

Logo placement. Choose whether to place your logo to the upper left or right of your stage. [released in September]

QR codes. Generate QR codes directly from your studio to share useful links and resources with your audiences. [released in September]

AI background. Design stunning backdrops for your stream with simple prompts: AI takes care of the rest. [released in November]

We've made links in On-Air webinar chats clickable when sent by hosts and cohosts, making it easier to share resources and engage with your audience during presentations.

Now when you're running a webinar and need to share a relevant link, participants can click it directly from the chat without having to copy and paste URLs manually.

We've added timer functionality to banners so you can control how long they appear on your stream, without needing to manually remove them when no longer needed.

Here's what's new:

• Display durations for banners with 10, 20, or 60-second timers
• Banners are automatically dismissed after the set duration
• Compatibility with all your existing banner designs

Perfect when you want to share information for a limited time: banners appear long enough for your viewers to notice, then clear themselves so your stream stays focused and uncluttered.

We’re introducing AI-powered background generation to help you produce unique and visually appealing broadcasts. Now you can create custom backgrounds with just a simple text description: no design skills needed.

Here's what's new:

• AI background generation directly in your Assets tab
• Smart prompt suggestions to help spark creative ideas
• Instant preview and saving to your media library

Simply describe what you want: from 🌄 "peaceful mountain landscape at sunset" or 🦆 "ducks pattern", watch as AI creates a custom background tailored to your vision.

We're excited to share a major project our video engineering team has just completed: delivering noticeably higher video quality for every creator.

As a result, here's what you'll experience:

• Clearer details and text that remain sharp even in lower lighting
• Smoother motion with significantly less stuttering during dynamic scenes
• Better color accuracy that makes your content more vibrant and engaging

To accomplish this, the team combined scientific tools with real-world testing:

• Adopted VMAF to measure video quality, the same professional-grade measurement standard Netflix first implemented to perfect their streaming stack.
• Comprehensive real-world testing. Bright podcast studios, dimly lit environments, highly dynamic crowded scenes, and everything in between.
• A/B testing with real viewers. Testing was important to confirm our improvements had visually noticeable impact on StreamYard’s output.

We've been hard at work improving your streaming experience, and Matteo just recorded a recap video showcasing all the updates we've made to StreamYard recently. From new creative tools to enhanced Stage control, we've focused on making your streaming experience smoother and more professional.

Here's what's new:

• Sounds feature. Add sound effects like applauses directly during your stream, with built-in options plus the ability to upload your own.
• Notes tab with Teleprompter. Write formatted notes for each studio that sync in real-time, then display them as a scrolling teleprompter (only visible to you).
• Enhanced Stage organization. Minimize/maximize any element on stage, create up to 16 custom layouts, plus Scenes now also work in portrait mode.
• Flexible logo placement. Choose left or right positioning for your logo to better organize your upper thirds.
